The Animal Haven is a private no-kill shelter for
the Greater New Haven area to humanely relinquish orphaned animals
for a small donation. People from 20-Connecticut towns and cities
entered 179 animals in 2002. 69 pets were dropped-off at our shelter
during closed hours or rescued from local municipal shelters and
local animal groups.
Animal
Haven is a cheerful upbeat shelter located in a beautiful wooded
area on a seven-acre lot. Many volunteers of all ages choose to
spend their time at The Animal Haven because of our positive, bright
surroundings. All visitors know that every animal will find a home
and that no pet will be put to sleep if they are not adopted by
a specified time. Youths, adults and families visit The Animal
Haven because of the tranquil surroundings and humane attitude
toward helping homeless animals.
The Animal Haven has a positive public image in Greater New Haven.
There are 1,569 members from 73-Connecticut towns and 64 members
live out of state. The Animal Haven receives no income from town
or government sources. All funding comes from private contributions,
entry and adoption fees and fund-raisers. Our kind and humane reputation
is truly reflected by the community’s continued financial
support. For 55 years, the community has literally kept our doors
open. The actual percentage of administrative and fund-raising
expense for the last three years was less than 1%. No other local
shelter has such a distinguished reputation in the area.
