The Animal Haven’s number one priority is to match homeless
cats and dogs with appropriate families. Our staff carefully fits
the pet’s personality with the expectations of the responsible
adopter. People from 39-Connecticut towns and cities adopted 193
pets in 2002. Many people adopt from us because of our honesty,
integrity and reputation for the last 55 years. The Animal Haven
promotes responsible pet ownership and the principle of a friend
for life.
A veterinarian immediately examines all animals that enter The
Animal Haven. These pets get a complete health check, all vaccinations
and are spayed or neutered. Because we have a no-kill shelter,
there is no time limit on their stay at The Animal Haven. The kennel
assistants rehabilitate and start basic obedience training for
those pets that need it. All animals get love, attention and respect
from the staff and volunteers.

Success Stories
12/2007 Hi! It's Hadley, Durango's new Mommy, and I just wanted to drop you guys a line and let you know how he is doing.
First of all I have to say that we love this dog more than anything. He is so smart and well behaved I can not believe anyone ever passed over him. He has figured it out on his own that if he has to go potty when we're not home (he drinks a TON of water), he goes on his pee pee pad (never thought he would figure it out). He LOVES my Mom's Chihuahua and her cat (although the cat is not sure about him yet). He is very spoiled. I am home with him most of the day and we run errands together - he loves car rides. We also go for about a mile walk every night (he goes to the door and stares at me when it's time to go). He has been getting all his meds on time and has not had any problem since being here, although we have talked to the vet and we are down to half a tablet in the day time. He is extremely spoiled, he has every toy he could ever want, and has not touched his rock since leaving Animal Haven. He even went and got groomed, which he loved and looked very handsome. I brush him almost every day and he enjoys it very much. He is truly an amazing dog and we cannot imagine our lives without him. I will have pictures soon to send to you. Everyone that meets him loves him to death and we could not be happier. Thank you sooooo much!!

Old Girl
by Tawni Pence, 9/19/03
Look at me I cry
I quiver with delight
As people walk by
I think, it's my night
I'm a good girl
I'll be your friend
I'll protect your family
I'll be loyal to the end...(
