Just wanted to let you know that Boog (formerly known as Garfield) has settled in beautifully to his fur-ever home. We can't thank you and your staff enough for being so wonderful to work with and for the care you took of Boog before he became ours.

I wanted to share a story with you. Almost a year ago we adopted these two little ones from your shelter. They were Oscar and Oakley. (Now Oscar and Mischief). While we were unsure of taking two cats, we had fallen in love with Oscar but weren't sure about Oakley, you insisted that you would prefer to adopt them out together. My husband came to pick them up and when I got home from work it was immediately apparent that they did need to stay together and we haven't regretted it once. Mischief has developed a little eye infection and we had to bring him to the vet. This is where the story begins. Once I managed to wrestle Mischief into the carrier, Oscar refused to let me take it away. No way, no how was I leaving without his brother. I finally extracted Oscar from the carrier and got Mischief out the front door. As soon as I closed the door Mischief started screaming and throwing himself around in the carrier. Well there was nothing to be done so I went back in the house, grabbed the puppy carrier and stuck both Oscar and Mischief in it and finally was able to leave for the vet. While at the vet, Oscar split his time between exploring all the nooks and crannies of the office and climbing up into my arms so he could watch the doctor examine is brother. He was very attentive to make sure Mischief wasn't being hurt at all. We've had these two nearly a year and I still am amazed by the special bond they share. And I know that when I bring Mischief back for his checkup next week that Oscar will be coming with us, because you were right all along, these two brothers can't ever be separated. Thank you for giving us two wonderful and amazing family members. I hope this story made you smile. - Jessica DeMartino Chidsey Aug 8th, 6:41pm

July 26th was a special day at Animal Haven. One of our long time dogs, Djama, has finally found her forever home! She's been here for over 4 long years and she's the most deserving of a fantastic home. Congrats to Djama and her new family! We wish them all the best and thank them for giving her a chance!

Getting ready to march!
Here's another Animal Haven success story. Hercules and Orion were 2 kitty brothers who came to us from a hoarder back in March of 2012. Hercules had a severe eye infection and lost one of eyes and Orion was afraid of the world. They loved each other but it was very hard to find them a home together. A wonderful woman decided to give them a chance. This woman just so happened to be a therapist, and decided her patients could use some animal love! Hercules and Orion are now therapy cats and are both very social, happy, and love to sit on the patients' laps!

Dolcie (aka Lumiere) was adopted 3 months ago. I'm not sure who rescued who. I love her even though she ate one of my tax documents. Yes she's adorable, loving, a mommy's girl, and very playful and precocious - and she's getting so big! 7 months old now! She is very happy in her forever home. - Cyndi Consoli 3/11/14

Ed & Kathy Carboni of Wallingford adopted one of our Boxer pups a few years ago. Mickey came from Bonnie & Clyde’s litter. You can see how much Mickey loves his little brother, Odie! Keeping warm by the fire on a cold winter day – what’s better than that?”

Dolcie, formerly known as Lumiere, hiding between the wall and the refrigerator so she can take pot-shots at me when I walk by. Her full name is Dolcenoia (Dolcie for short) which is Italian for “sweet trouble”. Purrfect for her…although I think Noia should be the first part of her name. Lol Her adjustment period is clearly over. -Cyndi Consoli

KIMBER _ 44 4 x 6 30.8 KB

HI To The Animal Haven, Just to let you know that Kimber is doing FINE. She is sitting in the window as I send this e-mail to you. My other cat Kelly is on the other side of the desk sleeping. All three of us are doing just fine together. Kimber is sure a nice cat and is still a little shy, but has come a long way.
KIMBER _ 44 4 x 6 30.8 KBKimber was afraid of my walker, and now she plays under it. Being a rescue cat we do not know her background, she may have had people chase her with a toy with tires. Kimber sure eats a lot, but she is a growing girl, but still is a little cat. Her feet are big so I think she may get bigger. Her ears are still big, and Kimber still has the big GREEN eyes. Kimber does not shed her fur (fine by me). She eats with the other cat (Kelly) and they both use the same litter box. Thanks for sending Kimber my way !
